Mercedes-Benz EQT EV passenger car revealed
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the passenger version of the eCitan van called EQT in Germany, along with an upcoming Concept EQT Marco Polo camper car.
The Mercedes-Benz EQT is essentially an all-electric version of the Class T the carrier shares its bones with Renault Kangoo.
Renault even offers an electric version of the Kangoo called Kangoo Electronic Technology available in both people on the move and control panel valve configuration. The second of these options will arrive in Australia in early 2023.
However, it remains unclear whether the Mercedes-Benz EQT will arrive here, as Mercedes-Benz Vans Australia previously said it was assessing the suitability of the models involved. Citan, eCitan and T-Class models. There has been no official decision on the launch of these models yet.
The previous generation Mercedes-Benz Citan was never launched in Australia as it would not have received a five-star ANCAP safety rating.
Mercedes-Benz EQT is powered by a single electric motor manufacturing 90kW power and 245Nm torque, sending power to the front wheels only.
This is mated with a 45kWh . lithium-ion battery pack. Mercedes-Benz claims EQT comes in multiple varieties 280km according to the WLTP test, with a combined consumption of 18.99kWh/100km.
The EQT comes with a Type 2/CCS combo charging plug and can be charged at up to 80kW when plugged into a DC fast charger. Mercedes-Benz claims that charging at this speed from 10 to 80% will take 38 minutes.
The human electric motor can also charge up to 22kW when plugged into an AC wall box.
The Mercedes-Benz EQT will initially be available in a short-wheelbase form with five seats, followed by a long-wheelbase variant with seven seats due in 2023.

As noted above, Mercedes-Benz has also revealed the upcoming Concept EQT Marco Polo camper car based on the long-wheelbase EQT.
This concept camper offers a glimpse of the production EQT Marco Polo still being developed under Mercedes-Benz.
It has some cool features associated with camping vans including a pop-up roof with integrated solar panel and roof bed, removable battery pack, 16L fridge box, compartment system scissors, induction hob, removable gas hob, folding table, black -rear window, and other storage compartments.
Mercedes-Benz currently has several models of battery-powered valves, including eVitoeVito Tourer, EQVand eSprinter.
Both versions of the eVito and EQV are already on sale in Australia, with Updated eSprinter coming in 2024 with a claimed range of 500km.
From 2025, all new Mercedes-Benz architectures will be electric as the brand plans to go all-electric by the end of the decade “wherever market conditions permit”.
That means there’s a new, truck-specific EV architecture for the company. Called VAN.EA, it will be launched “from the mid-2020s”.
