The transformation of the digital ecosystem to the metaverse, where one will feel immersed in the virtual world, will push the data usage to 20 times globally by 2032 and telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are well-placed to benefit from an increase in India, a Credit Suisse report has said.
The report says the metaverse has great potential to further extend device usage time and drive more bandwidth consumption.
“Internet traffic is already 80% video and growing at a CAGR of 30% (compound year-on-year). Our team predicts that even modest use of the metaverse could drive a CAGR of 37. % more over the next decade to 20 times the current usage data,” the report said on Thursday.
