Monti Olson to lead music rights acquisitions in new role as President at $500m-backed Litmus Music
Monti Olson joined Litmus Music as President.
Launched earlier this month, New York-based Litmus, co-founded by Hank Forsyth and Dan McCarroll in partnership with Carlyle Global Credit, initially committed to invest $500 million in both equity and debt.
In a press release announcing the launch, Litmus said it plans to “purchase and manage music rights, including music publishing and music recording, across genres and regions.” logic and color”.
As Chairman, Olson joins the founding team and will lead the music rights acquisitions for the company.
He joins Litmus with over 20 years of experience in the music industry.
Olson was most recently Executive Vice President/Director BMG Music Rights Music Publishing North America, where, according to the announcement announcing his appointment, “he led the division in the domestic music market and was responsible for the development and execution of growth and strategy strategies. top acquisition strategy/category and execution”.
Olson previously served as Senior Vice President of A&R at Warner Bros. Profile, EVP / Head of Department of A&R at Popular music Publishing team and Senior Vice President/Head of Division of A&R at BMG Music Publishing.
He is also the co-founder of vinyl reissue company Original Recordings Group.

Carlyle was formerly an investor in Scooter Braun’s Ithaca Holdings Group, before having $1 billion purchase by HYBE last February. Carlyle has left his position in the acquired company.
