Motion Claim Preakness Weekend Coach Bonus
Coach Graham Motion won the top prize of $50,000 in the Maryland Jockey Club’s $100,000 coach bonus, which is given to riders participating in races. GI Preakness S. weekend bets at Pimlico.
To qualify for the bonus, trainers must start a minimum of five horses in 15 Purebred bet races. Points are assigned based on finishing position – first place (10), second place (seventh), third place (five), fourth (third) and fifth to last place (one). The coach with the most points earns $50,000, followed by $25,000 for second, $12,000 for third, $7,000 for fourth, $4,000 for second. five and $2,000 for sixth place.
Motion, who celebrated his 59th birthday on Monday, won seven horses in three piles overall in two days, including Nagirroc (meadow) won the Listed James W. Murphy S., three of the top five finishers in the GIII Gallorette S. and two of the top four finishers in the GIII Dinner Party S. Overall, veteran moderator earned 34 points, three more than the runner-up Chad Brown.
