National award-winning choreographer K Sivasankar died of complications related to COVID-19 at the age of 72 on Sunday. According to sources at the hospital, where he is being treated for the coronavirus, the Telugu choreographer passed away yesterday in Hyderabad, PTI news agency reported. Sivasankar’s eldest son also tested positive for COVID-19 and is being treated for the virus. After K Sivasankar’s death, several crew members mourned him on social media. Actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood, who extended financial support to K Sivasankar’s family to pay medical bills for the choreographer’s costly COVID-19 treatment last week. The family has to bear this loss. Cinema will always remember, sir.”

Actress Khushbu Sundar recalled working with Sivasankar on “dozens of songs” and wrote: “Today we lost a great talent. Master choreographer #Shivshankar. Performed dozens of times. songs with him. Last week, the appeal to help K Sivasankar’s family pay their medical bills was shared on Twitter by PR consultant for the southern film industry Vamsi Kaka. “Famous choreographer Shivashankar Master was affected by COVID-19 and is currently in critical condition. Due to expensive treatment, the family cannot pay the bills. Please help,” it read. Some time later, Sonu Sood, who is known for his philanthropic work during and even after the coronavirus crisis, responded to the tweet and wrote: “I’ve been in contact with the family. K Sivasankar is a famous choreographer in the southern film industry. He won the National Award for Best Choreography for his work in Rajamouli .’s film Magadheera, starring Ram Charan and Kajal Aggarwal. He also choreographed songs in movies like Vishwa Thulasi and Thiruda Thirudi. In addition to choreographing songs, Sivasankar has acted in several Telugu and Tamil films.
