Jay Em Ess Stable’s Just happy (Runhappy) equals his career-best 103 Beyer Speed Number for ‘Rising star TDN’subsidy worthy of victory (videotapes) at Aqueduct Saturday. Happy Medium has gone 3/4 this year, his only loss being on his debut when he finished 3rd with 7 traps at the Aqueduct in March.
“He’s doing all the right things,” coach Michelle Nevin said of the sophomore. “We’re very pleased with him and we’re taking every logical step as he comes along and he really shows up.”
Happy Medium took its first 103 Beyer with a 9 1/4 length girls special class win at Belmont in its second start. This was followed by a five-stage victory on the sloppy and sealed main track at the Aqueduct on November 13.
Nevin says Saturday’s Happy Medium effort was the best attempt of his career.
Nevin said: “Yesterday, he seemed more in control of the race every step of the way. “When breaking down girlhood, he did it with ease, but maybe it doesn’t look as impressive as it did yesterday.”
Looking ahead for Happy Medium, Nevin said, “We’re going to get through this, go back to training and see how we are and then we’ll make our decision a little bit. We’ll have to see how he comes out of this race. It was a huge effort, so I wasn’t in too much of a hurry to pick a spot. Once I feel like he’s on his feet again, we’ll see what’s available to us. ”
