New York Giants’ Joe Judge points to coaching staff after Bucs loss, mother of Jason Garrett’s status as OC

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Blame the coach more than the player. That is Giants in New York Coach Joe Judge’s message after Monday night 30-10 defeats come Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium.

“You can put it down tonight. Got it?” Judge said after the loss. “You can write that tonight. The players have to execute. That’s their job, right? It’s our job to teach them. It’s their job to go out and execute.

“But we have to make sure we put them in a position to have success. That has to be consistent, by the way. So you can go ahead and write it down. I’m not going to argue about that. there.”

The Giants (3-7) are back Saquon Barkley and settle on the left Andrew Thomas back from injury and wide receiver Kenny Golladay was the healthiest for weeks. They have most of the weapons on the field together and still manage only one touchdown, and that happens when a rotation lands the ball at the 5-yard line of Tampa Bay.

As it went, the second half on Monday night was uncompetitive, with the Bucs . midfielder brave cat received most of the fourth quarter.

“We have to do a better job of scoring,” Judge said. “I know that sounds pretty obvious and right. But I’m going to keep it pretty blunt right there. We have to do a better job of getting the players into position to play. We have too many bridges. good players. We have to put them in a better position to take advantage of it. That’s it.”

He later added: “As a player, there are things I would also be disappointed with.”

Golladay, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal this season, has been targeted twice. He has a catch from 12 yards.

The offense’s lack of production drew all eyes on coordinator Jason Garrett. The Giants have scored 30 points once in 26 games since he joined the Giants.

Judge was then asked if he still had confidence in his attack coordinator.

“I have faith in everyone on our team – the players, the coach, everyone. We will evaluate everything as a team and make any moves that we need. to move forward,” Judge said.

That’s not exactly a resounding sign of approval. The Giants now have a short Thanksgiving week before facing Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday.

So will Garrett still be the coordinator of the attack?

“I’m not going to get into it right now,” Judge said.

Midfielder Daniel Jones and Barkley were asked if they had complete confidence in their offensive coordinator after the first. They remained supportive even after relatively underperforming performances.

Jones made a 23/38 pass for 167 yards with a touchdown pass and two interceptions. Barkley totaled 56 yards across 12 touchdowns in his first game back from an ankle injury. He had missed the previous four games.

“Yes, I believe in [Garrett]”Barkley said.” At the end of the day, like I said, it’s easy to go and people want to blame the coaches. Sometimes, instead of pointing, you have to look at yourself in the mirror.

“As players, we don’t act. It’s as simple as that. We have to go out there and act.”

The players say it is on them. The judge said it was due to the coach. Either way, it feels like another New York playoff season. The Giants finished last year’s season 6-10 in Judge’s first year as head coach. They haven’t made it to the knockout stages since 2016. That was the last time they had a winning season.

The judge confirmed it would turn. It’s only a matter of time.

“I’m telling you we’re going to put something on the field that you’ll be proud of. That’s my name. You understand?” he say. “That’s my name. I’m the leader of this group. I’m in charge of this group. It’s my fault. I’m not pointing. I’m not making excuses. We’re going to get this right.”

I hope he pointed the finger at me and the coaching staff on Monday night.
