New York Jets to start Joe Flacco in quarterfinals against Miami Dolphins source said
Joe Flacco will start at quarter for New York Jets against Miami Dolphins on Sunday, a source told ESPN’s Rich Cimini on Wednesday.
Mike White threw four interceptions in last week’s 45-17 loss Buffalo Bills. Rookies Zach Wilson, meanwhile, has yet to return from a second-degree PCL sprain.
Flacco, who completed all three of his pass attempts and lost in the fourth quarter of his loss to the Bills, was acquired in a transaction with Philadelphia Eagles on October 25. His experience could be a factor in the decision to join the Jets in the face of Miami’s dense defence.
Flacco started in a 24-0 loss to the Dolphins in 2020 while with the Jets.
Wilson sprinted and launched a lot of passes in the warm-up period before the game against the Bills, but coach Robert Saleh did not specify when the No. 2 overall pick would return.
After throwing 405 yards into the Bengals’ net in the first game, White suffered a serious injury in the first inning against the Colts before an ineffective start against the Bills. In 4 games this season, White has thrown 953 yards with 5 touchdowns and 8 interceptions with 51.5 QBR.
Flacco serves as Sam DarnoldNew York’s main substitute last season, starting four games when Darnold suffered a shoulder injury. The Jets lost all four, while Flacco struggled in three of the four.
The Jets did not re-sign the free agent after the 2020 season.
