NFL Hall of Fame Coach, Legendary Commentator and Video Game Icon John Madden Has Gone
Legendary commentator, broadcaster and NFL Hall of Fame coach, John Madden, passed away today at the age of 85.
Madden is best known as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1969–1978 in the NFL, where he led the team to a Super Bowl XI victory in the 1976 season. He later became a broadcaster. The bombastic, unforgettable member of CBS, Fox, ABC and NBC, covers and comments on NFL games weekly. From his memorable commercials for companies like “Tough Actin” “Tinactin” to various cameos in film and television, he’s almost an unforgettable part of American culture. for more than 30 years following his successful coaching career.
We also know John Madden from his years in video games, which has had a franchise to his name since 1988’s John Madden Football. In the 23 years he has made, the lovable, and often his infectious voice and personality for the game developed by Electronic Arts now known as Madden NFL. He has an indelible legacy in the worlds of sports, video games, and culture at large. The least we can say is thank you, John, for your years of sharing your knowledge with your players and audience, keeping you entertained and playing a vital role in the making. video games like today.
