Nintendo Mario Kart 7 Patch 10 Years After Last Update
mario kart 7 it may be just one numeric entry down from the most recent game in the series, but that doesn’t mean it’s not as old as shit. In fact, it was first released on the Nintendo 3DS eleven years agoIn December 2011.
With both the game and the system in mind, it’s made with most people in mind, it’s surprising that we’re talking about it outside of the confines of some sort of serial or classic rating post. It’s even weirder when we talk about it because it just got an update.
The game’s most recent patch—also the first one—was released in May 2012 and does the following:
Version 1.1 (Release May 15, 2012)
– An update has been made available to remove keyboard shortcuts in Wuhu Loop, Maka Wuhu and Bowser Castle 1 tracks when they are played in Online Multiplayer Mode.
– An update is required to play the game’s Online Multiplayer Mode. However, tracks in Single Player and Local Multiplayer will not be affected by this update. Players can continue to play in these modes without installing updates.
The game’s second patch was released on December 13, 2022 and was… well, Nintendo won’t specify, just saying in general terms:
Several issues have been resolved to improve the gameplay experience.
So great! For anyone still playing a game that was released over a decade ago. And which one went? 10 years, 6 months and 28 days between patches. That is 3864 days.
I wonder if any glitch-related “issues” have been exploited by speedists all those years, especially since the last patch targeted some “explore keyboard shortcuts”.? If you’re still playing the game and come across anything that you notice has been changed in the update, let us know!
