It’s time for the European Union to “think about mandatory vaccinations” against Covid, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said on Wednesday, stressing that member states’ governments would decide determined.
“My personal view is … I think it is understandable and appropriate to lead this discussion right now,” she told a news conference, noting that a third of the EU’s population consists of 450 million people are still unvaccinated.
“How can we encourage and potentially think about compulsory vaccination in the European Union? This needs discussion. This needs a common approach. But it’s a discussion. which I think must be led,” she said.
