Hours after killing a member of the far-right Bajrang Dal faction in Karnataka’s Shivamogga, police made the first arrest.
CCTV footage captured a man being arrested from the neighborhood where Harsha, 25, was stabbed on Sunday night.
In the clip, which was recorded shortly after 3 a.m. early Monday, the man was searched by police and then led away.
Police have arrested six people after questioning about a dozen people about the murders, violence and arson in Shivamogga yesterday.
“All the accused have been identified and are being sought. We will arrest everyone involved, only then can we say what is the motive behind the murder,” police said. senior Pratap Reddy said.

Yesterday, the Karnataka government ruled out any connection to the hijab restriction incident in schools and colleges, but Araga State Home Minister Dnyanendra said: “The organizations behind the hijab line also said: are under scrutiny, their role is also under legal review. action will be taken against those who threw stones yesterday.”
Violence broke out when Harsha’s body was taken for final rites in a procession. More than 5,000 people attended the 8-kilometer-long funeral.
As tensions escalated, cars were set on fire and stones were reported. At least three people, including a photojournalist and a policewoman, were injured. Some two-wheelers were damaged or burned.
Police had to fire tear gas and use lathis to control the crowd. Schools and colleges have been declared closed and mass gatherings banned.
The Karnataka government, facing questions about whether the procession was allowed in a volatile situation, refused to make a decision.
“Seeing (that there were so many) people visiting, the body was taken for the final rites. It was the decision of the district government,” the interior minister said, calling for peace.
“We urge everyone not to allow any place to disturb the peace. The government will certainly arrest the criminals and punish them appropriately,” Mr. Dnyanendra said.
“This type of murder should stop and it will end with Harsha’s murder. This is the commitment of the government and the police department. We are looking at this case to the end,” the minister added. .
So far, police say Harsha was killed because of a “personal love rival”.
Police officer K Thiyagarajan said: “Until now, we believe this has happened in relation to previous enmity. Further investigations are underway.”
Several BJP leaders, including Karnataka Minister KS Eshwarappa and State Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, have accused the plot behind Harsha’s murder and have asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate.
Mr Eshwarappa on Monday controversially blamed the killings on “Muslim goblins” and accused Karnataka Premier DK Shivakumar of instigating the killing with comments he made on the climax of the hijab protests.
“He is a very good worker. He is an honest young man. Last night, Muslim demons murdered him. Recently, DK Shivakumar announced that the national flag has been replaced with the flag. saffron and about 50,000 saffron shawls were ordered from a factory in Surat for an anti-hijab protest. I will not allow this debilitating condition to continue. We will extend all possible help to the man’s family,” Mr. Eshwarappa told reporters.
