Original ‘Pingu’ voice actor Carlo Bonomi dies aged 85
Carlo Bonomi, the voice actor who brought Pingu to television, has died at the age of 85. Mr. Bonomi is from Milan. He voiced the clay penguin and all the characters on the TV show from 1990 to 2000.
The cause of his death has yet to be revealed, but Pingu’s fans have flooded social media with tributes recalling his iconic catchphrase “noot noot”. American animator Travis Bickerstaff speak that Bonomi’s “noot noot” will survive.
“If you’re wondering if this is the end of Pingu, then no,” Bickerstaff said, adding, “The other voice actors in the Pingu series have continued Bonomi’s legacy, as he set ‘Pengunese’ language for the series. ”
Another said, “That man (Mr Bonomi) not only made millions of people’s childhoods by giving us Pingu accents, but he also shouted many Noots with our heart’s content. Farewell, Carlo, Noot Noot.” The third added, “Rest assured, Carlo Bonomi. No one can literally speak all the voices in Pingu like you did.”

Based on Evening Standard, Mr. Bonomi created the Penguinease language for children’s clay modeling program based on the Milanese dialect. He drew inspiration from his work on the Italian animated series, La Linea.
Pingu was co-created by Otmar Gutmann and Erika Brueggeman. The children’s show follows the life of a cheeky penguin. Dubbing for the show has helped Mr Bonomi gain many followers around the globe.
The actor also voices Italian versions of famous cartoon characters such as Mickey Mouse and Fred Flinstone. Furthermore, Mr. Bonomi made announcements at Milan’s Central Station and Florence’s Santa Maria Central Station.
