Passengers on 13 flights from Italy to Punjab escape from hospital

Thirteen passengers who tested positive for Covid after landing in Amritsar earlier today fled the hospital, authorities said. They said they tricked health officials and fled this evening.
The patients were admitted to Amritsar’s Guru Nanak Dev Hospital.
“We will start the procedures to cancel their passports,” Deputy Commissioner Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Khehra told NDTV.
“If they don’t come back in the morning, we will put their pictures in the paper,” he warned, adding that FIRs under the Epidemiology and Disaster Management Act would be registered against them. .
“We are doing our best to keep our school district away from the epidemic and patient negligence will not be tolerated at any cost,” Mr. Khera said.
179 passengers, including 19 children, landed in Amritsar from Milan at around 1:30 pm today on a charter flight. Of those, 125 tested positive for coronavirus upon arrival. All passengers who tested positive for Covid were taken to the quarantine agency.
According to the Union Health Ministry, all adult passengers have been screened on arrival as Italy is one of the high-risk countries for Omicron disease.
The charter flight – operated by EuroAtlantic Airways, a Portuguese company – had a technical pause in Tbilisi, according to officials.
