Ultra International Music Publishing has opened a new creative hub in Nigeria, marking the company’s expansion in West Africa.
Ultra has appointed London-based A&R manager, Harold Serero, to oversee the growth of its Africa operations.
The company says that the new initiative builds on the success it has enjoyed in the Afrobeats genre, overseen so far by Andreas Rizek, the company’s Head of North America A&R.
Company signings include Tejiri Akpoghene, who joined the list under a global co-publishing deal with Revels Management and last week won a Grammy Award for Best Melody Rap Performance as a co-producer. Future’s Wait For Uft. Drake & Tems.
Ultra has also signed rising star Maesu through a co-publishing agreement with Los Angeles-based creative direction, production design, and staging company Sturdy.

To celebrate the launch of this new initiative, Ultra organized a songwriting camp in the country’s capital Lagos in partnership with Estlon Music, featuring more than 20 producers, writers, and producers. , artist and visual sound designer.
The camp features experienced producers such as Chopstiix, producer of Burna Boy (Burna Boy last last) and Leriq, along with rising writers and artists like Bloody Civilian (Def Jam), Amexin (Ultra Publishing), Shorae Moore, and musicians like Naya Akanji (Aristokat) and guitarist Effeh Jazz and others other.
Music written at the camp will contribute to an introductory mixtape titled Sonic Rare.
