Former two-division world champion Malignaggi questions whether Ryan Garcia wants to be famous or a world champion level fighter.
Ryan is already famous and has made millions in endorsements without ever winning a world title.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Ryan Garcia’s net worth is 10 million dollarsand it may continue to grow even as he continues to choose to fight unruly villains like Fortuna, Emmanuel Tagoe, and Francisco Fonseca.
Malignaggi notes that Fortuna (36-3-1.25 KOs) is a dangerous puncher as he fights at 130, but he doesn’t present himself as someone like him at 135.
Fortuna has been fighting in lightweight since 2016, but he has yet to beat a top name since moving up to the weight division.
Last year, Fortuna lost to Joseph ‘Jojo’ Diaz, a former featherweight champion by a unanimous decision in the 12th round, and he didn’t look particularly impressive in that bout.

“Bottom line, I think Ryan Garcia is too big for Javier Fortuna physically, he’s too big,” Paulie Malignaggi said. ProBox TV. “Fortuna, I remember him being very dangerous at 130 pounds, this guy, and he was very awkward.
“The guys who flounder usually don’t succeed unless they can punch because when they can, it’s hard to time and see when they’re going to throw.
If they can punch, they’ll take your whole mechanics off your feet and really make you start to doubt yourself. Fortuna still has that style.
“I remember fighting when he was light, where he was the younger against Robert Easter, and he gave Robert Easter hell. I think that match could have ended in a draw, and it was an old world lightweight champion.
“Fortuna made up for the lack of size in his clumsy balance. I think he might have had respectable strength at 135 pounds, but at 130 lbs, this guy is dangerous.
“He just didn’t have anyone to move him that completely took care of him, but he was always dangerous. For that reason, I think he’s still dangerous in this fight [with Ryan Garcia].
“I also think because of the fact that he’s a male employee, they’re relying on the fact that maybe he learned during his battle with Luke Campbell. Let’s see how far he goes [Ryan] has come since the fight with Luke Campbell.
“Personally, I think Luke Campbell is a better fighter than Javier Fortuna. He has Olympic pedigree. He’s not that awkward, but naturally a bigger guy. It is true that he also appeared, but he had a physique that could fill the lighter category better than Fortuna.
“Fortuna will look smaller than Garcia on the night of the fight. He was not a light person, but nonetheless, said all this. We talk about commercial life and all the other things,” says Malignaggi.

“Ryan Garcia is receiving multi-million dollar ads of compassiong company [Gatorade], doing commercials with Damian Lillard, an NBA superstar. Damian Lillard is not just an ordinary NBA player. It’s an NBA superstar. He is [Ryan] do Gatorade commercials with him.
“So you’re already where you want to be, and so you start to ask yourself, ‘I’ve been here. I just need to maintain what I’m doing. Risky fighting puts that at risk. If I was knocked down, all of this might take away from me. ‘
“You are leaving the young man [Ryan Garcia] nothing to reach unless he legally wants to be world champion and wants to get there legally.

“Ryan has a point. Matthew Hatton had never fought at 154 pounds in his life, but was a must for a world championship title against Canelo Alvarez at 154 pounds.
