Petrol and diesel prices today: Petrol and diesel prices were unchanged on Monday, December 6. Last week, the Delhi government reduced the value added tax (VAT) on gasoline from 30% to 19.40%. This decision marks a reduction in petrol prices of Rs 8.56 per liter from December 2 in the national capital.
A liter of petrol currently costs Rs 95.41 in Delhi; while the price of diesel – unchanged – stood at Rs 86.67. Fuel prices in other cities have also remained unchanged since Nov. 4, when the Center reduced the excise tax on petrol and diesel to Rs 5 and 10 per liter respectively.
In Mumbai, petrol currently retails at Rs 109.98 per liter; while diesel is being sold for Rs 94.14 per liter. Among metro cities, fuel prices are highest in Mumbai. Rates vary from state to state due to VAT.

State-run refiners such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum will adjust fuel prices on a daily basis, taking into account international crude oil prices and the US dollar exchange rate. Any changes in petrol and diesel prices will be made from 6:00 a.m. daily.
