Pierpaolo Piccioli of Maison Valentino painted the runway in his custom Pantone color – ‘Pink PP’
It’s an all-pink sort of fall/winter show for ValentineCreative director and visionary Pierpaolo Piccioli. For the brand’s presentation at this year’s Paris Fashion Week, everything was turned one color – pink – of quantity, vibrancy and boldness, never seen before from the fashion house or any of the major fashion labels in recent history.

But, it’s not just pink. Piccioli has partnered with Pantone Color Institute to create a custom pink shade now named ‘Pink PP’, after the designer’s name. According to the brand’s official Instagram account, “All those limitless possibilities, encapsulated in a single color.”
Not only did the brand change its Instagram profile picture to the pink Valentino logo and paint their social media feed pink, areas of Paris are also seen as a canvas when the name of the collection appeared on surfaces throughout the city. The show was held at Carreau du Temple.
Furthermore, to crystallize the intent of the collection into words, novelist and visual artist Douglas Coupland wrote special passages that culminated in an exclusive booklet as an invitation to the show.
The designer’s intent behind dropping the palette to just a bright, energetic pink – which is “the color of love, community, energy and freedom” – was to remove interaction. Intuitive with color to capture every eye, in terms of craftsmanship, detail and individuality of every design, unpacking the many possibilities of a monochrome collect. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the textures and silhouettes featured in the collection – everything from jacquards to sequins and 3D cuts and micromaterials.

The collection also features another subset of all-black pieces. After the show, Pierpaolo emerged to take the bow in the middle of a sea of pink in a black hoodie and trousers with a Ukrainian ribbon pinned to his chest, Solidarity with Ukrainians who continued to face Russian onslaught.
