Every week, TDN publishes a series of key official rulings from major racetracks in the four major racing jurisdictions, California, New York, Florida and Kentucky.
Here’s a quick look at how each of these jurisdictions adjudicates different crimes, what they make public (or don’t), and where.
CALIFORNIA
Follow: Santa Anita

Explainer: Jockey Kent Desormeaux, who did not respond to a written notice to appear before the Board of Management at Santa Anita Park on or before March 3, 2022, has been suspended for breach of Board rules California horse racing number 1547 (No Appearance) is pending to appear at a hearing before the Board of Directors to respond to allegations of violation of CHRB rule #1874 (Disorderly Conduct- Disruptive) and #1485(d) (License subject to conditions and agreement – Non-compliance agreement with The Winners Foundation). Explainer: Trainer Mark Glatt, who started the Beer Can Man horse, finished second in race Friday at Santa Anita Park on January 1, 2022, fined $500.00 and half-rated (1/2) points according to California Horse Racing Rule #1843.4 (Multiple Drug Violations – Expires 13/01) under rule #1887 (Trainer or Owner to ensure horse’s condition) due violates rule #1843(a)(b)(d) (Drugs, Drugs and Other Substances), and rule #1843.1(a) (Prohibited Substance – Dexamethasone) [Class 4/C]).

Pursuant to California Horse Racing Board Rule No. 1766 (Designated Races), the period of suspension shall not prohibit participation in designated races.

KENTUCKY

Violation: Violation of drugs
Explainer: After receiving notification from Industry Lab, official testing lab fol. The Kentucky Equestrian Commission and at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory confirm, model number E490742 was obtained from Fed Money, who finished in the 10th race at Churchill Downs on November 4, 2021 contains Metformin in the blood (rank 8). Following a formal hearing before the Board of Directors James E. Baker is hereby suspended THIRTY (30) days and fined $500. Due to extenuating circumstances (number of violations compared to overall record), 15 days will be served from March 1, 2022 through March 15, 2022 (inclusive). The remaining 15 days are upheld provided no Class A or Class 8 drug violations have occurred in any racing jurisdiction within 365 days of this ruling. Fed Money is disqualified and all funds in the wallet are lost. Pari-mutuel bets are not affected by this ruling. During the suspension, Mr. Baker was denied the privileges of all establishments under the jurisdiction of the Kentucky Equestrian Commission. All horses owned or trained by Mr. Baker are rejected pending transfer to those approved by the steward. Upon receipt of this ruling. within thirty (30) days must pay any and all fines to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
NEWYORK
