Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield – Shining Stars | The coolest cards we got from booster packs
The first Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion of 2022 is finally ready to go, and so we’re here to open tons of booster packs for the Sword & Shield – Brilliant Stars expansion. The expansion includes over 170 cards, including 4 Pokémon VStar cards, 20 Pokémon V cards, and 3 Pokémon VMax cards. Additionally, Brilliant Stars features 30 Trainer Gallery cards with special art, over 20 Trainer cards, and a new Special Energy card.
We’ve been sent a lot of booster packs for the Sword & Shield – Brilliant Stars expansion. Once I open all the packages and sort through my drags, I’m happy with the generational spread. While Pokémon Kanto and Galar continue to perform well, I noticed more Sinnoh monsters this time around. With Shining Diamonds & Shining Pearls just hit last year, and Legend: Arceus launched last month, this seems like a smart move.
My favorite cards this time around happen to fall into the Gen I category. While it’s true that I appreciate Gen I the most (thanks mainly to nostalgia), I like to think of these cards as favourites. My favorite is not for that nostalgia, but rather for the classic design of these artful cards. The clean art of the Pikachu V and Raichu V cards immediately caught my attention, and I always consider it a great day when I can pull a Charizard. Of course, just spending tons of hours on Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it’s great that you can also grab the iconic Pocket Monster from these packs. I also really like some of the Trainer cards included in this expansion, which is not something I can say about every set.
You can check out more than 20 cards that I consider to be my favorites in the gallery below.
