Prince William and Kate attend Royal variety show as duke says: ‘I don’t hit your wife’ | UK News
Comedian Alan Carr told Prince William he “didn’t hit his wife” after complimenting Kate at a Royal Variety performance.
NS Duchess of Cambridge wore a floor-length emerald green Jenny Packham dress to the 94th annual charity event, while Duke of Cambridge wear a classic dress.
Kate’s dress appears to be the one she wore in October 2019 during a royal tour of Pakistan with Prince William.
Welcoming the couple at the Royal Albert Hall show, Mr Carr told Kate: “You look absolutely beautiful.”
Addressing the duke, the star then said: “Sir, I’m sure you don’t know who I am, but I didn’t hit your wife.”
Mr Carr, 45, is gay and married party organizer Paul Drayton, 46, in 2018.
The couple have been together for more than 10 years.
After Kate arrived, she was presented with a bouquet of flowers by a 10-year-old girl.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old boy gave the show to Prince William, who asked him what kind of music he liked.
The Queen has written to Royal Variety Charity to send her best wishes for the event and the 100th anniversary of patronage from the Royal Family.
Proceeds from the show help people in the entertainment industry in need of care and help.
Due to the pandemic, last year’s event was held in front of a virtual audience at the Blackpool Opera House.
This year’s showcase features performances by Years & Years, James Blunt, Elvis Costello, Gregory Porter and Anne-Marie.
The cast of Moulin Rouge! Productions of Matilda the Musical by the Musical Company and Royal Shakespeare are also on schedule.
Cirque du Soleil will perform part of their latest Luzia show, while former America’s Got Talent contestants the Messoudi Brothers will perform acrobatics.
There is also a comedy by Judi Love, Bill Bailey and Josh Widdicombe.
