Prodrive Hunter: Legendary Rally Creates Road-Legal Dakar Racer
Prodrive, the company behind some of the world’s most successful racing cars, has turned its Dakar Rally into a road car.
Prodrive Hunter has been dubbed the “world’s first all-terrain supercar” by its creators, with the power of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 earn more 447kW and 700Nm.
This is a 50% increase for the engine in the racing version, as road cars are not bound by regulations. Prodrive says the 100km/h sprint takes about 4 seconds and you’ll hit close to 300km/h… on 35-inch tires, in a vehicle that can store 480 liters of fuel.
All that lament is sent to the road surface – or desert, ice, snow, grass – via a six-speed paddle shifter, rather than a racer’s sequential manual transmission.
The car is built around a heavy-duty spaceframe chassis and features double wishbones in all four corners with 400mm of travel. Again, that’s more than what the competition car has to offer, to “offer a smoother ride and even the ability to tackle the roughest terrain at unimaginable speeds.” in any other car”.
Hidden behind the wheels are six-pot brake calipers and ventilated discs.
Inside, the cabin has proper racing seats and six-point harnesses, and the driver-facing digital instrument panel provides all the important information. It has some creature comforts like sound reduction and a fuel cell that can be scaled down to make room for luggage.
Prodrive President, David Richards, said: “We made a thoughtful decision to keep the Hunter Hypercar as close to the original as possible.
“It’s about giving owners the opportunity to experience what it’s like to drive Loeb’s Dakar across the desert, but with all the comforts of a road car and the ability to drive it from your home, across a city, to any of your destinations. choice.”
Only 25 will be built, each costing £1.25 million (A2.25 USD).
