Qatar Airways Delhi-Doha flight was diverted to Karachi due to emergency

The ANI news agency reported that a Qatar Airways flight from Delhi to Doha made an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan “due to signs of smoke”. The flight – QR579 – carried more than 100 passengers.
The airline said another flight was being arranged to take the passengers to Doha.
“Flight QR579 from Delhi to Doha on March 21 diverted to Karachi declared an emergency due to smoke detection in the cargo hold. The aircraft landed safely in Karachi, where it was met with emergency services and passengers disembarked,” Qatar Airways said, ANI reported.
“The incident is currently under investigation and a relief flight is being arranged to transport the onward passenger to Doha. We apologize for the inconvenience to our passengers, who will be receiving assistance regarding the incident. their travel plans,” the airline said.
One cardiologist tweeted to complain about the situation. “What’s the status of QR579 – Delhi-Doha, redirect to Karachi? No information provided, no food or drink provided to passengers. Customer care is straightforward. Please please help,” Dr Sameer Gupta tweeted.
In a video message, one passenger, Ramesh Raliya, said many people had connecting flights from Doha, but they did not have any information on when the plane took off from Karachi.
Mr. Raliya said the plane took off from Delhi at 3:50 am on Monday and landed in Karachi at 5:30 am.

“After landing, they made everyone get off the plane and wait at the airport. It’s 9am now,” the passenger said in the video. “They haven’t told us when the flight will take off. There are women and children, and many have to take connecting flights from Doha,” he said.
