Rashtrapati Bhavan, Qutub Minar Turn Green On World Children’s Day New Year’s Eve
Rashtrapati Bhavan, Qutub Minar and other monuments across New Delhi are illuminated with green lights on the eve of World Children’s Day. The iconic monuments are lit as part of UNICEF’s #GoBlue campaign to highlight children’s rights and the impact of the Covid pandemic on children’s lives.
Along with iconic monuments, important parliament buildings such as the North House and the South House were also lit in blue on Friday, the day before World Children’s Day.

On Saturday, UNICEF will host Parliament with Children in partnership with the Parliamentary Group for Children (PGC). The event, on November 20, will be attended by several members of Congress.
In Parliament, children will discuss reopening schools and present the Charter of Demand to MPs. Participating parliamentarians are expected to sign a letter pledging to support mainstreaming children’s rights and voices.
World Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20 every year. It was first organized in 1954 to promote international solidarity among children around the globe. The day is also an occasion to highlight and improve issues affecting the welfare of children.
In 1959, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration on the Rights of the Child on 20 November. In 1989, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on this date.
