Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries is available in some regions, but two main characters are missing
Scheduled for release tomorrow, April 7, some players in Korea are reporting that they can get early access to Resident Evil 4’s Mercenary Mode. Unfortunately, some also say that this mode is currently missing main content.
A staple of the Resident Evil games, Mercenary Mode is an arcade-style team mode where players battle against waves of infection to compete for high scores. The original Resident Evil 4 allowed the player to unlock the Mercenary Mode after completing its campaign, but the remake took a different strategy, like Capcom announced Instead, the mode will launch tomorrow, April 7.

Players have noted that the version for those in the previously mentioned regions lacks Ada Wong and Albert Wesker as playable characters, both of which were in previous versions of the mode and also get the data is in the remake. This has led some to speculate that perhaps Capcom intends to offer the characters as paid downloadable content in the future.
This seems to confirm reports of microtransactions entering mode, which players have begun to discover on online stores as “upgrade tickets” that will help players progress faster when running their Mercenary Mode.
The item descriptions for these Upgrade Tickets read: “here’s your ticket to the gun show! Specifically a ticket to redeem at the Merchant’s store. With this, you’ll have the right to upgrade. grant a weapon exclusive at any time, regardless of the weapon type. level. Not only that, but once unlocked, the upgrade itself is free!”
As a single-player game mode, this “pay-to-win” model may be less controversial than the one implemented in competitive multiplayer games, but the omission of the two main characters can be disappointing for some people.
