‘Rising Star’ Faiza survives investigation to get Starlet
‘TDN’s Rising Star’ Faiza (girvin) was narrowly left behind Pride of the Nile (Pioneer of the Nile) and survived a manager’s investigation to cross-pollinate 1-2 in an approximate renewal of GI Starlet S. at Los Alamitos Saturday. The win marks Starlet’s sixth straight win and ninth overall for Hall of Famer Bob Baffert. The winner of the flashy six-feather debut at Del Mar on November 12 made a two-pass debut in Starlet.
Perfectly positioned by Flavien Prat in the outer ring, placed third with a score of : 23.36 and : 47.87, Faiza started to move while the four wide at the far end to join his fine friend determined doinithehardway (street feeling) and Pride of the Nile glides over the tracks.
With the trio lined up at the top of the lane, fatigued rider Doinitthehardway got his worst in racing between rivals, colliding with both Faiza and Pride of the Nile as they headed straight. Faiza looks fine on her way from there, but Pride of the Nile won’t go down without a fight. Those two put on a performance on the way past the eighth column with Faiza wanting just a little more to take the lead. can not control (start) has completed the trilogy.
“Faiza has always shown that she is someone special and today she has to be special to win her first race,” Baffert said. “She is still green, but I think she has a big future ahead of her. I think she gets better with age, but we fell in love with her from the start and she’s one of the hottest gentlemen out there right now.
