Via Sam Volz: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero believes Ryan Garcia can knock out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis if he lands one of the powerful left hooks he has become famous for during his short six-year professional career mine.
Rolly knows what it’s like to share the ring with regular WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis, putting him through a lot of trouble through five rounds before being caught with a big hit that he unseen in round 6 last month on May 28th.
The undefeated WBC 2nd, WBA 6th and 9th IBF Ryan will play next month against Javier Fortuna on July 16th on DAZN. If Ryan (22-0, 18 KOs) wins that match, he could face the Davis Tank on Showtime PPV in November or December in a big game.
There was a tremendous amount of interest from boxing fans seeing Ryan challenge Tank for his WBA belt. The winner could face undisputed 135 lb champion Devin Haney or perhaps Rolly (14-1, 12 KOs) if he remains campaigning at lightweight in 2023.
“Ryan Garcia knew he would come back to me ten times over, a million times over. He’s going to make 50, hundred million in that fight,” Rolly Romero told Against TV Hubreacts to being told that Ryan Garcia has lost $20k betting on him in a fight against Gervonta ‘The Tank’ Davis.
“Ryan is a true champion and he will win“Rolly said.
“He’s not worried, he’s got the money. Interest rates are at f**** right now,” Rolly said when asked if he’d bought his mom a house from the money he made during his match against Tank Davis.
“Honestly, I have always known I was an excellent fighter. I’ve always known, and I think everyone realizes how awful that is. Like I said, I hit a good shot, that’s boxing, but I sold out the mother of F**** Barkleys. I promoted that ***. No other mother can do that.
“It was just a good shot. Meldrick Taylor – Chavez, Casamayor-Marquez, all of that sucks,” said Rolly, comparing the knock-out loss to Gervonta to the boxers’ suffocating losses in those two historic bouts.
“I said I wanted a rematch. Don’t ask me dumb questions,” Rolly said when asked if he wanted a rematch with Tank Davis. “It was a good fight. I wanted to see that fight,” Rolly said of the Gervonta vs Ryan Garcia match.
“I think Ryan Garcia is a real champion, and I think Gervonta Davis is a real champion. It was a really good fight. If Ryan Garcia catches him, he’ll take him out. If Tank catches him, he’ll take Ryan out.
“I told everyone that Kambosos was just an incredible joke, and there was an injured Teofimo who hadn’t fought in two months, and he looked like an asshole. Devin Haney, being of an inferior breed, a weak puncher can’t shoot, and he can’t do anything Devin.
“Devin is a terrible fighter, a sloppy fighter. Like I said, I was caught by a stroke of luck. Tank himself says he didn’t set it up. I will fight anyone,” said Rolly when asked if he wanted to fight the Kambosos.
