RYAN GARCIA, LIGHT SUBJECT:
“Now I’m at the point where I’m going to do amazing things in the ring. I have done all the ads that I can. I will be the best I can be. You have to trust that gut feeling most guys don’t.
“I knew Joe Goossen would be the perfect fit for me. He’s old school and I love that part of the game. He’s someone I can contact, we have good chemistry.
“I always stalk my opponent, that’s my fighting style. Make sure I’m counter-attacking. Whenever an opportunity presents itself.
“For the first time in my life I got knocked down and I handled it well. I reacted the way I imagined.
“I’m pretty good at fighting the smaller guys. [Tagoe] a little shorter and he likes canning.
“The boxers are always trying to put pressure on me. We’ll see because I don’t know too much about this guy. I would just stay calm and surgically break him or knock him down. I have pretty good timing and accuracy. I think that really separates me from the other boxers.
“My strength was revealed more easily. I don’t feel tired either. Everything is coming together. ”
OSCAR DE LA HOYA, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF GOLDEN BOY:
“He was fighting someone who had nothing to lose,” said Oscar De La Hoya. “I think Ryan needs to come out and make a point but do it smartly and carefully. Ryan knows what he’s doing. He is a professional. He’s been there before so it’s going to be an interesting fight. Joe Goossen has been in the game for so many years. I’m glad they connected”
JOE GOOSSEN, TRAINER TO RYAN GARCIA:
“I know he has something special. We get along well and there’s something about him that draws me to him in terms of his shrewd personality and wise fighting. He really attacks this as if he is haunted and haunted. I am really impressed. “
