Why this series ends: If you feel energized at Petco Park on a Friday night, you know why. In Game 4, the Padres will once again have a sold-out crowd behind them and the perfect pitcher on the mound – Musgrove, a San Diego native and lifelong Padres fan who has dreamed of pitching on a night like this and just left. off the Mets in the decisive game of the previous series. – Alden Gonzalez
Why isn’t it: It was the Dodgers, for crying out loud. They don’t win 111 games during the season for no reason. Unfortunately, they didn’t win 14 of those games against these Padres for no reason. The Dodgers had plenty of opportunities to take the lead in Games 2 and 3 – and they simply couldn’t get past the runner-ups in scoring. At some point, people will think, they will. They are too good not to. – Gonzalez

Phillies win streak 3-1
Takeaways
Once again, Major League Baseball won’t have a repeat World Series champion after the Phillies beat the Braves from the postseason with a resounding 8-3 win in their NLDS game 4.
Like they did in all three of their wins in the series, the Phillies took an early lead as Atlanta played chase pretty much from the start – and for the second day in a row, it was a party from start to finish. last at the noisy Citizens Bank Park.
Instead of a bat-filled home run celebration that provided the signature moment in Game 3, Saturday’s highlight was a springtime around the bases. In the third inning, JT Realmuto became the first catcher in post-season history to do an indoor run in the park, one inning Brandon Marsh ignite the crowd with a triple explosion.
Two things are clear no matter who Philly faces in the NLCS: This team that found new life at the start of the season when manager Rob Thomson took over won’t be easy for anyone – and when Philly approaches home in an NLCS game for the first time since 2010 next Friday, it’s going to be quite an exciting scene in Philadelphia. – Jesse Rogers
