Shashi Tharoor’s “Hot Workplace” Tweet with Kicks Up Row Congresswomen
New Delhi:
Is Lok Sabha an attractive place to work? MP Shashi Tharoor alluded to it when he posted a photo with six female members of Parliament and captioned it as such. The photo was taken at the start of the Winter Session of Parliament.
The female MPs, cutting across party lines, all smiled at Mr Tharoor in the background.
Nusrat Jahan of Trinamool and Mimi Chakraborty, Amarinder Singh’s wife Preneet Kaur, Supriya Sule of NCP, Jothimani of Parliament and Tamizhachi Thangapandia posed with Mr. Tharoor.

“Who says Lok Sabha is not a hot place to work? To my six fellow MPs this morning: @supriya_sule @ectorset_kaur @ThamizhachiTh @mimichakraborty @nusratchirps @JothimaniMP,” MP Thiruvanathapuram tweeted.
The tweet immediately attracted attention and comment, with some pointing out sexism in the caption and sarcasm of the equality discourse.
Unbelievable that someone is exposed to discourse equally as @ShashiTharoor will try to reduce elected political leaders from their appearances, and focus on commentary to boot. This is 2021, guys. https://t.co/aPJ3NK4sCW

Karuna Nundy, a lawyer for the Supreme Court, said: “It is unbelievable that someone exposed to equal discourse like @ShashiTharoor would try to detract from the appearance of political leaders. Vote and focus on comments. This is 2021, guys.”
“Amazing place to work? It’s 2021. Are you serious?” tweeted another one.
“Normal objectification, nice!” indicate another.
“Intriguing or inclusive?” ask another.
“At this point, you’re just asking for more memes,” another pointed out.
Mr Tharoor tweeted another set of photos featuring party members on the eve of the parliamentary session.

The parliamentary session promises plenty of action with the opposition planning to attack the government on a range of issues, including the rollback of three farm bills enacted last year.
The government has decided to introduce 36 bills, including one that would repeal controversial agricultural laws enacted last year.
