But just as you’re settling in, you see someone holding an infant walking down the aisle. “Oh, no,” you think and pray that they will sit in the back of the plane…and then it happens. They sit right next to you. The other things cheap mini headphones did you bring? Futile. They had no chance to drown out the baby’s incessant screams. Scream and cry, scream and cry – now you’re crying a little too.

Now, I’m not saying babies are bad or intentionally annoying; They don’t know any better. They are just the worst thing you can bring on a plane! Of course, with Sony’s new noise-cancelling MX5 headphones followed, the children screaming happily unnoticed.
Sony has officially outdone themselves with their latest noise-cancelling (and child-cancelling) feature Headphones MX5. The MX5 is engineered with Sony’s exclusive active listening technology that sets it apart from other leagues noise canceling headphones I have used in the past. Honestly, I’ve always been under the impression that noise-cancelling headphones block ambient sound from being compressed around your ears, but it turns out that not all noise-cancelling headphones are created equal.

Sony MX5 Headphones use micro to eliminate low-frequency noise before it reaches the ear by emitting ambient sound, effectively eliminating invasive sounds. When I first learned about this technology, I thought about the long-term negative effects caused by all the increased noise going on, but it turns out, the music you’re hearing is coming out at frequencies lower. This means it’s actually less harmful to your ears than just turning up the volume on the headphones to make outside noises quieter.
This next-level headset actually mutes (or at least reduces) the volume of the outside world, making a simple walk around the neighborhood like a cinematic experience or focusing on working from home. with noisy roommates, Feasibility. Sometimes I find myself just turning them on with no music and letting Active Noise Cancellation drown out the sounds of the city as I walk to work. My ride on the subway used to feel like a nightmare with some guy playing music from speakers (why!?) and the woman next to me scrolling through TikTok at full volume. Now I have these headphonesit’s been a pleasant experience where I can enjoy a podcast or song without feeling like I’m punishing my eardrums.
A few other things I like about them:

- They have super long battery life (30 hours)
- They are voice compatible with Google Assistant, Siri and Amazon Alexa
A few things I don’t like about them:
- Black lines (also silver) stain easily and often look dirty
- Incompatibility. The headphones don’t fold, so they won’t move well without the carrying case.
In general, I really like these headphone. I find myself looking for reasons to wear them while working, going for a walk, or if I just need a little respite from the noisy world.
