Rickie Fowler has a chance to retell the remarkable comeback story with his first major title while Rory McIlroy could end his nine-year drought in the final round of Sunday’s US Open.
Fowler managed to make it through the even-even round of 70 at the Los Angeles Country Club on Saturday to reach the final round at the top of the standings with fellow American Wyndham Clark with a score under 10.
They will play the finals again on Sunday and are expected to kick off the ball at 2:30pm local time (21:30 GMT).
Southern California-born Fowler is a former top 10 player who has been dropped from the golf map in recent years but has finished first at the end of each round to the satisfaction of his many fans in LA. .

Harris English, who has quietly assembled three solid rounds to sit just behind the top four, will play alongside fellow American Dustin Johnson. They will join the course at 2:08pm local time (21:08 GMT).
Sunday’s winner will walk away with $3.6 million of the tournament’s $20 million.
