Strong Daily Average Handling at Aqueduct

The average daily processing of all sources for the 15-day Aqueduct fall meeting that just ended was $10,295,293, according to a release Thursday from the New York Racing Association. That number represents an 11.2% increase from 2020, and the average daily processing at the fall meeting has increased by 25.4% since 2019.
The release notes that the NYRA has also seen strong growth at Belmont Park and Saratoga Racecourse: “Average daily handling at the Belmont fall meeting has increased 39% since 2019 with the meeting. Summer 2021 meeting in Saratoga eclipses $20 million in average daily meeting for the first time in history. ”
With three fewer in-person race days than last year’s fall meeting in the Aqueduct, the all-sources prize pool is $154,429,388 compared with $166,702,976 in 2020. held for 25 days and generated an all-source revenue of $205,249,710.
With more in-person participation this year than 2020 when only a limited number of owners can attend races amid the pre-pandemic era, the track handle isn’t worth it. surprise – up 35.1% to $15,268,541. The 25-day meeting in the fall of 2021 generated $20,712,645 at the wheel in the right direction.
A total of 74 races were run on grass during this year’s meeting with six races postponed due to weather. There were 68 grass races and 11 events that took place last season.
The average field size for the 145 races run at the meeting was 8.90, up 2.6% from 2020 and 5.9% from 2019.
