Quick hits
Wonderful thing: Smooth, satisfying powertrain; The uniquely finished cabin is generously equipped with useful technological features
Good: Attractive new look inside and out; 6000-pound towing capacity (when properly equipped) outperforms many competitors in its class
Not so good: Our observed fuel economy falls short of the EPA’s estimates; Third row space can be a bit cramped for adults

There’s not an absolute guarantee this will happen, but if a particular car is idle for a year it’s generally a good bet that anything to do with it will pass. to hibernate mode. Specific case: Nissan Pathfinder 3-row midsize SUV launched in 2021 and its wealthy uncle, the Infiniti QX60, has kept it company on the sidelines. Now they’re both back in 2022, rested and refreshed.
The QX60 comes in at ’22 which is slightly shorter and wider than before but has the same 114.2-inch wheelbase as the previous generation. A nine-speed automatic transmission replaces the previous continuously variable transmission, and the new Autograph trim level has been brought up quickly to the top of the QX60 trim level.
Consumer Guide tested the QX60 back at “most luxurious” as an all-wheel-drive Autograph with a starting price — including delivery — of $64,275. It featured features such as wooden trim, second-row captain’s seats (limited to six-seat passenger capacity), perforated tufted leather on the first and second rows, and a roof. Obsidian black paint. With nothing more than a premium Moonbow Blue paint job, the test truck tops out at $64,970. Prices start at under $50,000 for the Pure models, ascending through Luxe and Sensory on the way to the Autograph. All trim levels are available with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive.
Other comfortable and luxurious features of Autograph include 20-inch alloy wheels; Panoramic sunroof; roof rails; heated, power-folding, auto-dimming exterior mirrors; and a hands-free power lift gate. The front seats are heated, ventilated – and massaged; heated second row seats. The heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel is attached to the tilt/telescopic power pole. The rear window is retractable. There’s a three-zone automatic climate control, head-up display, rearview mirror and keyless entry and remote start.

The InTouch infotainment system includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, real-time navigation and traffic information, 17-speaker Bose audio, Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging and compatibility with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto smartphones (although only CarPlay is wireless). ProPILOT Assist provides autopilot with light, including adaptive cruise control with stop/hold and “Navi-Link” that uses the navigation system to “predict” upcoming roads and reduce vehicle speed accordingly when entering bends and highway exits. Topping everything is a driver assistance package that includes forward collision warning and emergency braking, automatic rear braking, adaptive front headlights, high beam assist, lane departure warning lane and prevention, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert and a 360-degree display with moving object detection.

Inside, the QX60 Autograph embodies comfort and luxury. Lots of bright decorative accents emerge from the Saddle Brown-and-Black interior in CG’s test car. However, while soft-touch surfaces seem to be everywhere on doors, dashboards and dashboards, they’re not necessarily well-cushioned. The cabin can also be quieter at free-flowing highway speeds.
Audio inputs are easily programmed. The best thing about the climate control is the presence of convenient dials for choosing the temperature. Other functions rely on haptic feedback buttons, so you have to make sure you press them all the way to be sure the system is doing what you want. Seven USB ports — two for data and five for charging — are arranged around the cabin. The digital dials in the 12.3-inch instrument cluster are bright and large, with the information screens between them vividly displayed. Maybe it’s this tester’s imagination but the display from the ground up seems to get better at not getting washed out when viewed through polarized sunglasses; that’s certainly true of the QX60.

Headroom and legroom are good in the front seats. Passengers in the second row will find plenty of room to accommodate in the reclining, adjustable captain’s seats. The third row of seats is uncomfortable for adults because of the lack of knee space, limited leg room behind the middle row, and a canopy close to the head. Plus, the seat isn’t well padded and the backrest is pretty upright.
Passengers’ personal items are also well met. The glovebox is large, and what the modest console lacks in volume is made up of in the floor-level open space below the console. The storage bags are attached to the backs of the front seats. The pockets on all four doors have bottle holders. Open cup holders are included in the front and center row consoles; more are molded into the sidewalls for use by third-row passengers.

The cargo space is OK, but it does have some style concessions. (Consider that the Pathfinder equipped with a sunroof from the same original stock has more capacity in each seat/load configuration—an extra 5.4 cubic feet when the third row of seats is retracted.) Rear There is a spacious bin under the floor . The seats fold flat to fit together on a large load-bearing floor, although there is some space between them. Note that the second row of seats is located slightly lower than the folding side seats, but the panel can be removed.

A new nine-speed transmission is paired with the 3.5-liter V6 that’s been carried over from the previous QX60 with 295 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. There’s sound, smooth performance from this powerteam, with a towing capacity of up to 6000 pounds when properly equipped. Selectable drive mode controls govern throttle response and transmission mapping in the “Individual”, “Sport”, “Standard”, “Eco” and “Snow” settings. We think you will hardly notice a significant change between Standard and Sport operation. The transmission uses a dashboard-mounted “shifter” that operates with a back-and-forth action, a somewhat unusual operation that, to be honest, develops on the driver rather quickly. Includes gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. The EPA fuel economy ratings for the AWD QX 60 are 20 mpg in city driving, 25 mpg on the highway, and 22 combined. This tester saw 21.5 mpg over a 120.7-mile period covering 60% city-style activity.
With a new transmission that improves overall performance and convenient, up-to-date technological features, the Infiniti QX60 will return worthy of the attention of luxury SUV shoppers.
