The AI Placed You at the Crime Scene, but You Weren’t There
LG: I do. And then I couldn’t do anything with them. It was just a stupid watch at the time. I see it appear. I see a Slack message or an iMessage come in and I say, “Okay, I need to work that out.” There is no way to interact with it on this watch. I will also say, I find myself regularly taking this watch off when engaged in certain social situations, which I never did with my Apple Watch because Garmin watches are bulky and . ..
MC: You could say ugly.
LG: It’s not the most… It’s not the most attractive watch.
MC: I don’t think it’s ugly. I think most people in our social circle, I assume your social circle, would see it and say, “Oh, that’s a Garmin watch.” And that says a lot about who you are, doesn’t it?
LG: It’s correct. And it’s also interesting that the Apple Watch doesn’t say too much about you, if you’re wearing an Apple Watch anymore. In the early days it did, it was like, oh, you’re a bookworm, you really like it. Or you are a technology reviewer. But now everyone has an Apple Watch.
MC: Or you worked at Apple.
LG: It’s correct.
MC: In San Francisco, I just assumed so.
LG: Exactly. I don’t even know how much this thing costs. There are many Garmin watches available. See, I’m looking for this right now. Boone, you can keep typing, typing, typing. The Fenix 5S, okay, it’s still not cheap. See, it looks like you can get it for as low as $400, but most places list it for 500. You also get the Sapphire glass.
MC: You can buy two Apple Watches for the price of the Fenix 5S.
LG: Oh, I love when this happens. I did a Google search for this and the first thing that came up with news was the Garmin Fenix 5S, which is the fitness watch I don’t want to take off and it says March 30, 2017 , written by you. So yes. Anyway, that’s my recommendation.
MC: Good.
LG: A very old recycling recommendation.
MC: Good.
LG: Mike, what’s yours.
MC: Thank you for letting us know what time it is. My recommendation is a program called Dropout and it’s on Hulu, you’ve probably heard of it. It’s the story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, and it’s a fictionalized spin-off of that story. I’m really nervous about watching it, but I’ve noticed that there are all these shows coming out related to the big stuff in our world. Yes Super pumpUber program. Yes WeCrash, that’s the WeWork story. Then there’s this, Dropout. I don’t know why I picked this first, just because I was on Hulu for something else, and I just clicked on it. It’s rubbish, it’s not great, but it’s funny. I really just love how it’s so over the top. There’s one scene in particular, I’ve been talking about this for the past few days.
