The huge success of V Rising even grew unexpectedly
V Rising out on May 18th, and I bet on that day almost none of you have ever heard of it.. A week later, it has sold over 500,000 copies, and as I type, it’s getting more and more people playing on Steam Elden Rings.
So what V Rising? It’s a vampire game where you can create your own character and fight. More specifically – and you’ll have to bear with me on this – it’s a vampire game that has a bit of a load of other games all rolled into one. A little Diablo there. But there is also some base building. Some survival tools. Adventure in an open world. And it supports co-op but also competitive multiplayer. Oh, and it’s still in Early Access state.
So it’s a mixed bag, but those are also exactly the kinds of games that PC-centric players absolutely love, so try the fact that it has some cool splash art. and a relatively cheap price tag and perhaps that’s not the biggest surprise , just a week after launch 127,000 people have played V Rising on Steam today, placing it in 6th place across the entire platform, just behind online trolls like Fights back and Life.
However, it was clearly a surprise to those who actually made the game. “I absolutely didn’t expect this many people,” said Stunlock’s developer Jeremy Fielding speak IGN. “I don’t think anyone expected it to be this big.” That’s right, buddy. More than 50,000 people played the game within hours of its release, and the all-time concurrent record on Steam is over 150,000 players.
(I’ll add here that Stunlock is hardly first-timers here, or strangers to early Steam success, published Battlerite a few years ago with similar titlesso maybe they didn’t total surprised)

You can watch the game on Steam here. And because I’ve seen loads of people ask this, while there’s multiplayer, you don’t need it at all to play and enjoy the game, as it functions as a single player experience. We hope to have some impressions of the game after we spend some more time with it this weekend!
