Duncan Taylor officially stepped down from his role as head of Taylor Made Sales and Farm earlier this year, relinquishing his titles as CEO and President. How does fake retirement work?
I don’t have to attend or hold many meetings. I have retired from the position of CEO of both our companies. Ben is the CEO/President of Taylor Made Stallions. Mark, as most people know, has taken on the position of CEO/President of Taylor Made Dealership. Fake retirement is I’m still working. The epicenter (Not this time)’s Travers, for financial reasons. Breeders’ Cup Distaff as a fan is better than the great Flightline.
If you weren’t in horse racing, what would you be?
I think I will try to develop a different kind of business. I am very competitive. In one sense it was a blessing and in another it was a curse.
If you could recruit one stallion from another farm for Taylor Made, who would it be?

Who is the horse you sold that you are most proud of?
Dancing Brave in 1985. He was a three year old European Champion. He won the European debut race, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, G1 English Two Thousand Guineas, G1 Coral-Eclipse S., G1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond S., and finished 2nd. in the G1 Epsom Derby. What achievement are you most proud of this year?
I am most proud of two things. My son, Marshall, is doing a great job as a Purebred Taylor Made mentor. Every parent worries about their children. Marshall, like all of us, had some difficulties. Although he has become more like his mother, he has become a wonderful person. He’s had his first year with his piglet farming business, Castleton Way, weaning piglets to piglets for a group of his clients, and he’s had many satisfied clients. That’s what business is all about.
