UFC President Dana White says he tested positive for COVID-19 after Thanksgiving rally
UFC President Dana White tested positive for COVID-19 this week and is currently isolated at his home in Las Vegas, he said on “The Jim Rome Podcast” Wednesday.
White, 52, said he and his family immediately tested positive after spending Thanksgiving together in Maine. White lives in Las Vegas, but was born in the Northeast and regularly visits his estate in Maine.
White confirmed on the podcast that he’s been vaccinated and said he consulted his close friend and UFC commentator Joe Rogan for advice following his diagnosis. The UFC president said he was feeling better and would like to attend a UFC Fight Night event on Saturday in Las Vegas if he can test negative.
“You have to stay home and away from other people for 10 days,” White said on the podcast. “That’s what I’m doing. If I come back negative, then I’ll have complete peace of mind. I’ll keep testing every two days until I’m negative and then I’ll go back to work. as soon as possible.”
In terms of schedule, White has been one of the most active commissioners in sports during the coronavirus pandemic. UFC is partnering with the government of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to host live events on Fight Island during the pandemic in 2020, as well as hosting events at the facility. their Apex headquarters in Las Vegas.
White said he called Rogan immediately after the test came back positive and has had monoclonal antibody treatment, NAD drips, vitamin drops and doses of ivermectin. White said he feels like “a million dollars” and is exercising several times a day. He said he temporarily lost his sense of smell.
The UFC has three live events planned for the rest of 2021. In addition to this weekend’s UFC Fight Night event at Apex, the company has UFC 269 pay-per-view on its books on Dec. at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, as well as the final night of UFC Fight Night on December 18 at Apex.
