UK Navy to receive Austrian-made drone helicopter
Austrian company Schiebel announced on Friday that it has been awarded the contract for its rotary-wing drone.
As noted by the company, Schiebel and Thales have been awarded a contract by the UK Department of Defense for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) “Peregrine”.
According to the press release, this contract award will deliver the Camcopter S-100, equipped with a powerful naval surveillance sensor, to provide comprehensive maritime capabilities that protect Royal Navy ships British in combat missions.

Schiebel’s Camcopter S-100 is a vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAS. It operates day and night, in adverse weather conditions, with visibility up to 200 km / 108 nm, on land and at sea. Its carbon fiber and titanium fuselage offers a wide range of payload/endurance combinations up to a flight ceiling of 5,500 m/18,000 ft. In typical configuration, the S-100 carries a 34 kg/75 lbs payload for up to 10 hours and runs on AVGas or JP-5 heavy fuel.
