Veterinarian raises funds for local horse rescue
A veterinarian is raising money for a local horse rescue by living in one of the stables for three days this week in hopes of raising $20,000.
Dr. Bryan Langlois has been participating in the PARR Pavilion Rest Fundraiser since noon on Monday. He’ll live in a booth until noon on Thursday or earlier if his $20,000 goal is reached. All proceeds from the fundraising go to PA Racehorse Rehoming, Rehabilitation and Rescue (PARR), an Off the Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) rescue that recently moved its operations from Pennsylvania to Ocala .
All the care of the horses is carried out strictly by volunteers led by the founder of the rescue organization, Dr Kate Papp, who has dedicated her life and career to taking care of the horses. The horse is in need of this help.
Dr Langlois said: ‘I’m coming down here for a vet conference next weekend, so it felt natural to see if I could help raise money in some way while getting here sooner. little or no,” said Dr. Langlois.
“I did a similar fundraiser for the rescue when they were in Pennsylvania a few years ago, raising nearly $10,000. I have witnessed firsthand how the people here take horses that were supposed to be never saved and work wonders with them. As a veterinarian who also only works in the rescue and non-profit sector, I am well aware of all the costs involved in caring for these creatures and only the benevolence of the benefactors. New generous donations enable rescues like PARR to work and save these creatures’ lives. The slight discomfort I may experience during a few days in a barn is nothing compared to what some PARR horses have experienced over the years.”
