During the Main Event, Vito “White Majic” Mielnicki, Jr., 10-1 (6), #146.4, of Roseland, NJ, stopped Nicholas “Nice Nick” DeLomba, 16-4 (5), #145.4, of Orlando, FL, by Providence, RI, at 1:49 of the tenth and final innings of the 10th.
In the first round, Mielnicki started right away with a 3 left hook that hooked DeLomba’s chin. For the rest of the round, Mielnicki used an effective jab. With DeLomba complaining of being hit in the back of the head and being credited with only one punch for the entire round. In the second half, Mielnicki countered the oncoming DeLomba with frequent stabs and punches to the chin. At the last minute, Mielnicki stepped forward, unleashing a combined punch with his right after his jab into DeLomba’s chin.
In the third round, near the end of the first minute, Mielnicki injured DeLomba with a punch right to the chin. In the second minute of the round, Mielnicki overcame DeLomba with a series of unreturned punches as Mielnicki was looking to close the game as referee Eric Dali was scrutinizing him to be able to stop it.
In the fourth inning, DeLomba finally showed up with some fouls, with Mielnicki counter-attacking. In the final minute of the round, Mielnicki had a double punch to the chin of DeLomba, who returned with a smack on his chin. Mielnicki ended the round with a snake on the side of his body. In the fifth round, Mielnicki continued to use his jab, landing on DeLomba’s now red face. In the final thirty seconds, Mielnicki landed on the right chin, attracting DeLomba’s attention.
In the sixth round, Mielnicki continued to let DeLomba learn boxing to win every round. In the final seconds, DeLomba landed with his right hand on his chin, and Mielnicki ended the round with a jolt to the right and left. In the seventh inning, fans started chanting “Vito, Vito” for the most beloved local team. In the last minute, DeLomba delivered the best punch of the match, a smack on the left chin. Despite winning the round, Mielnicki’s punch count was slowing. Mielnicki ended the round with a left hook to DeLomba’s chin.
In the 1/8 round, DeLomba is having reckless throws that rarely hit the target. At the last minute, Mielnicki got a right punch to the chin, rocking DeLomba, who had swelling under his right eye late in the inning. In the ninth inning, Mielnicki took a step ahead of DeLomba and at the last minute was cautioned by referee Dali for holding the draw. He immediately bounced back, returning more than half a dozen unrequited punches to DeLomba’s body and head.
In the tenth and final inning midway through, Mielnicki hit a miss that sent DeLomba off balance on his feet when the corner was later ordered by referee Eric Dali to stop.
It was Mielnicki’s fourth game of the year, coming back with his second win since his first and only loss. He did not disappoint the local audience with a stellar performance.
Superlightweight Kenneth “Bossman” Sims, Jr., 17-2-1 (5), #145.8, of Chicago, IL, beat Keeshawn “The Next Big Thing” Williams, 8-1-1 (2), 146 ½, more than eight rounds.
For the first four innings, Sims controlled the action. Over the next few innings, Williams came back a little. In the seventh and eighth rounds, Sims try to close the show, winning with ease.
The scores are 77-75 and 79-73, respectively. The referee is Harvey Dock.
Middleweight Joey Spencer, 14-0 (10), #156.4, of Union City, NJ, knocks out Limberth “El Gallito” Ponce, 18-5 (11), #155.6, of Acapulco, MEX and Rock Island, IL, at 1:24 of the fifth of the 8th.
In the first three rounds, Spencer was mostly at his strength. In the fifth round, Spencer finished knocking Ponce out as referee Eric Dali counted him.
Welterweight superweight Yoelvis “La Joya” Gomez, 5-0 (5), #157.4, of Havana, Cuba and Las Vegas, NV, stopped “Cassius” Clay Collard, 9-6-3 (4), # 158.8, of Burley , ID, at 2:11 of the first day of 6.
In the first half, Gomez overcame Collard, scoring the knock-out goal as referee Earl Brown drove off Collard and prevented Collard from continuing.
Super Welterweight Travon Marshall, 4-0 (3), #149.6, of Capitol Heights, MD, blocks Brian “Sweet” Jones, 15-13 (9), #148.8, of LA, CA, at 2:15 of inning fourth of a 4.
In the first three rounds, it was all Marshall. In the fourth and final round, referee Harvey Dock stopped the game with Jones receiving too many penalties.
In a rematch in a draw three months ago, Bantamweight Superweight Rajon “Picasso” Chance, 6-0-1 (5), #125, of East Orange, NJ, claimed a decisive victory over Elon “El” Leon” de Jesus 3-1-1 (2), #123.8, of Orlando, FL, over six innings.
In the first two innings, it was all Chances. In the third round, de Jesus came back well. In the fourth round, the opportunity returned, as de Jesus finished the round with a solid left hook to Chance’s chin. In the fifth round, de Jesus was warned by referee Harvey Dock for hitting a few strokes. Knowing he was behind, de Jesus was looking for a big punch that didn’t come.
In the sixth and final round, half way through, de Jesus landed firmly on Chance’s chin. Seconds later, Chance landed a low blow and was warned. At the last minute, de Jesus knocked Chance down with a low strike and received a warning from referee Dock that he would lose a point if it happened again. After a few minutes, they were back up and running until the bell rang.
The scores are 58-56 Chance, 58-56 de Jesus, and 59-55 Chance, as this writer did.
Welterweight Michael “Slick” Anderson, 22-3-1 (16), #147, of E. Orange, NJ, knocks out Noe Alejandro Lopez, 10-5-1 (4), #146 ½, of Spring, TX , at 0:33 of the third inning of 6.
In the third round, Anderson beat Lopez. As he was rising, Lopez was rushed by Anderson, dropping him on referee Dock.
