What to expect from Star Wars in 2023

We have a bad one – really not, we have a pretty good feeling about this one! Star Wars has maximum engine power as the new year hits – lots of animated, live-action movies and a great video game.

From the debut of the live-action Thrawn to the return of The Mandalorian and Grogu, there’s a lot to watch, so join and… punch it!

Star Wars 2023

The Bad Batch: Part 2

Start the new year off with the artists formerly known as the 99 Experimental Clone Force! Huntah, Ricka, Icko, Tick and Omeega All are now free mercenaries, finding their way into the early days of the Empire and discovering that this new world is not kind to the Clones or the Kaminoans created them in the first place. The Bad Batch Season 2 promises a deeper look at the giant galactic transition from the Republic to the Empire era. Season 2 will premiere in January on Disney+.

The Mandalorian: Part 3

We want to see the baby! And we’ll soon have the long-awaited return of The Mandalorian Season 3, after Grogu definitively chose his father over the Jedi in Boba Fett’s Book. With a return to his homeland in the ruins of Mandalore, Din Djarin needs to atone in the eyes of his Mandalorian cult, and Bo Katan certainly has thoughts on what it means to be a Mandalorian and who will run it. program after Din declared success then Shadow Sword. The teaser trailer shows us old friends like Greef Karga, Peli Motto and Babu Frik, but who knows what Luke Skywalker-level cameos might be in store? The next ride with the Mudhorn Family begins March 1 on Disney+.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

And while we’re on the subject of Order 66 survivors, Cal Kestis is returning to the next leg of his adventure five years after the events of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Known for his new Force abilities and lightsaber combat style, Cal will see how far he will go to protect those closest to him as he flees the Empire’s reach. in an even more uncertain time. We’ll see Cal, BD-1, etc back on March 16.

Five years between games is a long time, according to lore, and to fill the void, there’s also a prequel novel set in that time period. In Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars, Cal forms a relationship with the crew of Stinger Mantis, but he will have to face the likes of Brother Five, introduced in Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi series. You can watch this novel a week before Jedi Survivor premieres on March 7, 2023.

Star Wars: The Adventures of the Young Jedi

And speaking of Jedi Academy… yes, it’s a bit lengthy, but Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures is a new series that focuses on young people from all over the world. high republic era. Keep in mind, this program is for young young children, kindergarten through elementary school, so please refrain from sharp takedowns about how this program breaks the rules by putting in an Ewok teddy bear or something. Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures launches on Disney+ in the spring of 2023.

Star Wars: Vision Vol. 2

Star Wars: Visions, an anthology series of nine animated shorts produced by seven Japanese animation studios, is back with a second episode. This time around, the sourcing will be more international, including animation from Japanese, Indian, UK, Irish, French, South African, Chilean and US studios. For Episode 1, each studio is given a lot freely interpret and express Star Wars lore as they see fit, and Episode 2 looks set to go even further culturally. Star Wars: Vision Vol. 2 is scheduled to premiere sometime in early 2023 on Disney+.

Star Wars: Ahsoka

After seeing Rosario Dawson debut a live-action version of a fan-favorite brute-force user in The Mandalorian, fans wanted more Ahsoka Tano. That of course includes fans of the Star Wars animated show Rebels, especially since it has been revealed that Ahsoka Season 1 will feature the return of the Sabine Wren characters, Ezra Bridger and (so far unofficial) Hera Syndulla and Chopper. Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Ahsoka’s mentor turned worst villain in the galaxy. Every clash between these two characters so far has been equally intense, so we’re looking forward to the live action. Ahsoka doesn’t have an official release date yet, but it’s slated for late 2023 on Disney+.

Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is an upcoming new live-action TV series – and mystery – starring Jude Law. published by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau at Star Wars Celebration 2022, it seems the closest analogy to the show is calling it the Stranger Things of the Star Wars universe. Seriously, not much is known about the show yet, only that it’s an Amblin-style coming-of-age story about a group of kids lost in space around the time of The Mandalorian, and it was originally codenamed “Rodeo Grammar,” it’s a pretty excellent Simpsons reference at least. Creator Jon Watts (Spider-Man director Tom Holland) revealed only the following: “It’s a story about their journey trying to find their way home. It stars four kids, but This is not a show for children.” Star Wars: Goonies, uh, Skeleton Crew will be released sometime in 2023 on Disney+.

Looking To The Future Star Wars After 2023

Andor: Part 2

After completing what many of us call one of the best things in the Star Wars universe, Andor Season 2 is definitely something we’re eager to see. Season 1 gave us not only Cassian Andor’s path to the Rebel Alliance, but also the Alliance’s path to becoming a necessity for those against the Empire through the story of characters like Mon Mothma. and Luther Rael. While Season 1 follows the process a year, five years before Rogue One, Season 2 is expected to be much more detailed and introduce the beloved powerful droid K2-SO. Given the critical and audience ratings for Andor Season 1, we can’t wait for more Tony Gilroy’s slow-paced Star Wars storytelling. Andor Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s likely to arrive in 2024 on Disney+ at the earliest.

Star Wars: Acolyte

We now have the plot details of Star Wars: Acolyte, the first Sith entry from Star Wars. With a plan to infiltrate the Sith Jedi at the end of the High Republic, this mystery thriller promises to show the rise of the Dark Side of the Force as a former padawan reunites with his master. His Jedi to investigate something that, we’re guessing here, will be heavily Sith-bound and quite grim and monstrous than anything the Jedi have faced at this point. Offering a cast of assassins like Amandla Stenberg, Dafne Keen, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Manny Jacinto among others, here’s a Star Wars story you want to make sure you don’t miss. There are no details yet on when The Acolyte will release, but it looks like it will be eight episodes long and on Disney+ of course.

In addition to these titles, of course, the Star Wars machine has plenty of other movies, shows, and more in the works. Go through our list of all the Upcoming Star Wars movies and TV shows for a complete list, included in development projects, TBD titles, etc!
