Amidst it all Twitter hubbub, the lesser known social site Mastodon has seen a spike in new users. Mastodon is a loosely connected network of servers running individually, all of which operate under their own rules and respond to their own moderators. It’s a very different environment than Twitter. But while Mastodon aims to become a new form of social media, it can be prone to the same troubles that have befallen the platforms that precede it.
