How to get Fool's Gold Final Fantasy 16
Despite what you may initially think, Fool's Gold is not dropped by regular enemies. The first of the two parts you need for Tonberry Knife actually comes from The Aire of Hours dungeon which you will need to complete for the main story of the DLC. Fittingly, it's the reward for defeating the first boss: Master Tonberry. If you're reading this, you probably already have this first piece in your repertoire. It's easy to overlook this when you first see the results screen of that match!
The second piece of Fool's Gold you need is in the Father's Fell area of Mysidia. You'll find this southeast of the Riversmeet fast travel location. Go to the end of the two paths leading to Tailwind Bay and look north of that area. You'll find a treasure chest here containing the piece of Fool's Gold you need. See the map above for exact location.
This chest is surprisingly cleverly hidden, so keep your eyes peeled for it.
If you lack other ingredients to craft the Tonberry Knife, continue completing side quests in Mysidia. You will encounter dropped hunting targets Slot And Water membrane items and you will even get extra parts Orichalcum also. The only way you can be short of materials later is if you use those materials to craft equipment from the base game. In this extremely specific case, you can simply go back to the main game and aim for 100% completion to get those items back.
Whether you use it or just want it for your collection, enjoy your brand new weapon!
