Sonic Origins: Fans Unsatisfied with Locked DLC Content
Sonic Origin‘release dates and versions were announced earlier today, and fans were unhappy with the amount of DLC locked, including the game’s ‘Hard Missions’, camera controls on main menu elements and character animations while playing music.
Sonics 1, 2, 3 and CD remastered collection announced 8 pieces of content not included in the standard edition and spread across several different DLC releases and packs..
According to Sonic Origins websitedifficult missions, mirroring mode is being unlocked, and even certain animations and music are locked behind DLC packs since launch.
Even the most expensive Digital Deluxe Edition doesn’t automatically come with everything, as fans will also need to pre-order the collection to tick off each piece of DLC.
Fans have expressed their concerns on Twitter, with @MShenjosh says that Sonic Origins feels “like a fighting game with their DLC”, while @RobotFaker_ said they “didn’t like the digital luxury that SEGA keeps pulling.”

The standard version of Sonic Origins retails for $39.99 and doesn’t come with any extra features, but players who pre-order it will get a 100 bonus coin that unlocks reflex mode slideshow and free mailbox background.
The Premium Fun package comes with the inclusion of difficult missions, mailbox backgrounds, main menu character animations, camera controls on the main menu islands, and character animations in the music islands.
Another piece of DLC, the Classic Music pack, comes with additional tracks from the Mega Drive and Genesis games.
The Digital Deluxe Edition, which retails for $44.99 includes most of these extras, but as mentioned, players will still need to pre-order the game to get immediate access to the Game Mode. mirror along with bonus and mailbox background.
Sonic Origins will be available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC on June 23.
