Winter Olympics 2022 – USA vs Canada for women’s hockey gold medal, Mikaela Shiffrin and Kamila Valieva compete again

Shiffrin started strong
Mikaela Shiffrin retained her medal hopes on Thursday in her final individual race of these Olympics with a successful run in the downhill portion of the combined event.
Shiffrin entered the event that recorded his best downhill time in practice Wednesday. Her momentum continues as it counts.
As the 9th skier to compete in the field aged 26 and using downhill silver medalist Sofia Goggia’s skis, Shiffrin recorded a time of 1:32.98 – good enough for the spot second at the time of completion.

But, of course, she still has a slalom part of the event later today. Shiffrin was the favorite in the individual race last week but she scored a not-so-distinct “Not Finish” in the race. She also scored a DNF in the giant slalom, and placed 9th in super-G and 18th in the downhill.
Now, she will head towards ultimate redemption in the form of medals. Shiffrin won silver in the combined event in 2018 and is the defending world champion.
Even if she doesn’t end up on the podium today, she will have one more chance in Beijing. Shiffrin will compete in the mixed team tandem slalom on Saturday. She will become only the second woman in history to compete in all six alpine events at the Olympics, alongside her rival Petra Vlhova, who did so in 2018, her first year. of the team event. – D’Arcy Maine
Gu took the lead in the halfpipe qualifiers

“Halfpipe is all about fun and pushing yourself and limits,” Gu told NBC after her second run.
When asked what she thought about skiing in the final round of the competition, Gu said she also refrained.
“I don’t do my best,” Gu said. “I have a few more tricks. But since it’s the Olympics, I want to be consistent and do my best. I have to put safety first, but there are a few things I hope to do if I do. have a chance. [Friday]. “
