Land Rover Australia Will open the order book for the revealed extension Defender 130 on August 1, with prices starting at $124,150 before on-road expenses.
The company announced today that their ultra-long SUV will be available only in the ‘SE’ specification level, with single-six petrol and diesel engine options.
The Defender 130 joins the five-door Defender 110 and the three-door Defender 90, offering what JLR bills as “adventure opportunities for up to eight adults in three full-size rows” – as long as your payload is under 750kg.
The Land Rover Defender 130 SE D300 diesel will have a local list price of $124,150 before on-road costs, while the petrol P400 is priced at $131,650.

That makes them $22,200 and $22,540, respectively, more expensive than comparable products Defender 110 SE models with these engines.
The Defender 130 has been stretched by 340mm compared to the Defender 110, bringing its length to a whopping 5358mm with the spare tire.
That makes it up to 378mm longer than Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series154mm longer than a Jeep Grand Cherokeeand 115mm longer than Mercedes-Benz GLS.
The Defender’s longer departure angle naturally drops to 11.5 degrees, but its other off-road angles are the same. So is the 3022mm wheelbase, 2008mm width and 1970mm height.
Third-row occupants also enjoy air vents, armrests, storage compartments, USB-C sockets and available heated seats.
Those in the first two rows get a panoramic sunroof above, while rows two and three enjoy a small “rising stadium” to improve their visibility.
Anchor points for ISOFIX child seats are on the outboard seats of the second and third rows.
The four-zone climate control system is exclusive to the Defender 130. There’s also 389L of boot space with all three rows of seats.

Moving to the front of the cabin, the Defender 130 uses the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system found on Defender 90 and 110 models.
There’s a new Natural Light Oak engineered wood veneer finish, while Land Rover is launching a new Cabin Air Purification Plus with 130.
This has nanoe X allergen-reduction and germ-removal technology, and you can use your smartphone to activate the Purge function before stepping in your vehicle.
A range of Ingenium 48V mild hybrid inline-six petrol and diesel engines will be available, depending on market. Australia’s options would be:
- Petrol P400: 3.0 liter six-cylinder, 48V MHEV, 294kW, 550Nm, 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds.
- D300 diesel engine: 3.0 liter six-cylinder, 48V MHEV, 221kW, 650Nm, 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Each Defender 130 is equipped with JLR’s intelligent all-wheel drive (iAWD) system and eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The iAWD drive system manages power distribution between the front and rear axles.
While the engine is familiar, the towing capacity is reduced by 500kg compared to the Defender 110, down to 3000kg when braking.
According to JLR, the standard air suspension allows for an additional 71.5mm of lift at the front and 73.5mm at the rear, and the 130 can be submerged up to 900mm of water, JLR says.
In addition to the longer rear overhang, the 130 can be distinguished by the unique Sedona Red exterior color and the bright Expansion Pack with Ceres Silver Satin-finished lower body panels and Noble Chrome skids.

With the new Range Rover Sport Losing the third row option, Land Rover buyers with larger families now have a choice between Defender and Discover in this part of the market.
The Defender 130 will come standard with a 5-year unlimited-km warranty with roadside assistance and a 5-year maintenance plan ($2250 for the P400 and $2650 for the D300).
