Chicago Blackhawks’ Jujhar Khaira comes off the field on a stretcher after being hit by New York Rangers’ Jacob Trouba

CHICAGO – Chicago Blackhawks front Jujhar Khaira was stretched out of the ice after he was leveled New York Ranger Defender player Jacob Trouba on Tuesday night.

The Blackhawks said Khaira received a “hit to the upper body” and was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital for further examination.

Khaira’s head ducked as he gathered at puck 6:10 in the second round, and Trouba seemed to nudge his right shoulder into his chin. Khaira’s head slammed out of the ice, and there was no sign of any movement as the Blackhawks and Rangers scuffled nearby.

A stretcher was rolled onto the ice, and paramedics worked with Khaira as each team watched from the bench area. Several of his teammates and the Rangers patted stretchers as Khaira was taken out.

The Blackhawks’ Riley Stillman fight Trouba about two minutes later.

27-year-old Khaira has two goals and no assists in 17 games in his first season with the Blackhawks.
