Eddie Hearn says Canelo wants revenge for his loss to Bivol
Via Brian Webber: Eddie Hearn insists Canelo Alvarez wants revenge for his loss to Dmitry Bivol last May.
Hearn says the loss to Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) is eating him inside, and he’s literally being overheard by that.
It’s not just Canelo. Bivol could be the biggest obstacle to the fight against Canelo as he wants to take on Artur Beterbiev for the next championship.
If Bivol decides that he will fight Beterbiev next, he will need to wait until he is free.
“I think if he had the choice, I think he’d want to be uncontested at 175,” Eddie Hearn told. Against TV Hub about Bivol. “Obviously, for me working with Canelo and Bivol, it makes sense to do that fight.
“I have to talk to Eddy Reynoso and Saul. Obviously, they will watch that performance. BILLIONhat of failure [for Canelo] will eat him. He will want revenge for that failure.
“Right now, he has a chance to avenge a defeat, and I think that will be his priority.
“I’ll see what Eddy and Saul have to say. I want to do the Canelo rematch because I don’t think Beterbiev will be available until August or September.
“If he will fight Yarde in January or February, and then he will have Ramadan until April or May. He probably won’t be ready until August or September. I don’t think Dmitry Bivol will wait that long.
“I really don’t think Canelo cares about his marketability when he loses games. I feel like he just wants the biggest challenges. Knowing him, voluntary defense doesn’t really appeal to him unless he specifically wants to fight someone.
“Honestly, you can’t do what everyone wants all the time,” Dmitry Bivol said after the fight. “If I had done what people wanted, I would have lost myself. I know I defend well, move well, coordinate well, coordinate well.
“I try to do that, and I try to make people like it. I don’t want to say bad things about my opponents, but people want to hear it.
“I want to show respect to people and speak with actions in the ring, and I want people to accept this from me. I hope one day they will accept it,” said Bivol.
