Ryan Moore wins on Victoria Street on Friday | Horsephotos
Ryan Moore, who guided three Breeders ‘Cup winners in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships in Keeneland on November 4-5, won the 20th Bill Shoemaker Award for outstanding jockey in the race. The event lasted two days. The Shoemaker Award goes to the rider who has ridden the most winners of the 14 Championship races with the winner being a 10-3-1 points system for the person who finishes second to fourth.
Moore, who also won the Shoemaker Award in 2015, won the GI Maker’s Mark Breeders ‘Cup Filly & Mare Turf’ awards on Saturday (Ire) and the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on Victoria Street (Ire) on Friday. along with GI Breeders ‘ Adolescents’ Cup of Cannabis Turn on Meditation (Ire). He also finished three seconds with Stone Age (Ire) in the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf, Emaraaty Ana (GB) in the GI Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and Dramatized (Ire) in the GI Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint.
Irad Ortiz Jr., the winner of the past four Shoemaker Awards, also had three winners, including a pair of wins on Saturday, but only one finished in second.
